The first of two live periods of the month is underway this weekend with head coach Buzz Williams and his staff zeroing in on their 2026 targets and building out the 2027 and 2028 recruiting board, including one of the top prospects in the 2027 class.
Head coach Buzz Williams was among the coaches in attendance for Team Durant’s win over Team Herro at EYBL Session III on Thursday evening as five-star Baba Oladotun posted 28 points, 11 rebounds and a pair of steals. Williams was outside again for Team Durant's matchup vs. Team Takeover on Friday afternoon, featuring three of the top prospects both in the region and in their respective classes with Oladotun squaring off against 2026 five-stars Jordan Smith and Qayden Samuels. Maryland also watched Oladotun, a consensus top-five 2027 prospect and a 6-foot-9 wing out of Blake, last month as the new staff looks to prioritize the local star three recruiting cycles after Derik Queen opted to stay local.
The five-star picked up an offer from Maryland under the previous coaching staff before the Buzz staff reconfirmed the offer shortly after arriving in College Park in late May, while Oladotun was among the local visitors for last year’s top-20 matchup vs. Michigan State. With visits undecided midway through summer, the local five-star tops the recruiting wishlist with others like Kentucky, Tennessee, UCLA, USC, Georgetown, Indiana and Texas have extended offers.
As a sophomore leading Blake to a county championship and being named an All-MET selection, Oladotun averaged 22.5 points, seven rebounds and three assists. While at the NBPA Top 100 camp back in June, he averaged 16.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 1.8 assists in nearly 26 minutes per game while shooting over 46% from the field. Despite being one of 24 underclassmen at the event, Oladotun was also named a standout at the camp.
On3 Scouting Report: “You immediately notice the length and the frame with Baba Oladotun. The jump shot is what he does, and it is where his production comes from at this point. He is around 6-foot-7 with long arms. His footwork getting into the jump shot is clean, and Oladotun is confident getting into it off the bounce or the catch. He is a threat as a pull-up jump shooter, getting a high release with good balance. He will need to continue adding weight, and with that, he could become a more consistent rebounder. With his length and natural athleticism, there is an upside there on the defensive end. The tools are obvious, and the upside here is worth monitoring.”
