Big Ten opponents announced for Maryland men's basketball's 2025-26 season

One day removed from officially announcing the first four members of head coach Buzz Williams’ staff in College Park, 2025-26 conference opponents have officially been announced for Maryland men’s basketball for the 2025-26 season with Illinois set to face the Terps twice, once again.

2025-26 opponents

Home: Indiana, Michigan, Ohio State, Oregon, Penn State, Purdue, Washington

Away: Michigan State, Minnesota, Nebraska, Northwestern, UCLA, USC, Wisconsin

Home/Away: Illinois, Iowa, Rutgers

Maryland is already slated to square off against Marquette, Virginia and Georgetown in the non-conference slate as Williams noted he and his staff are working toward a finalized schedule.

“We’re working really hard. It’s been fast. I’m still living at The Hotel on campus and work as much as we can,” Williams said on BTN during Saturday’s spring game. “We’re getting our staff here. we’re putting together our roster, trying to finish our non-conference schedule so there’s a lot of work but we’re excited for the opportunity.

The news comes on the same day that ESPN released its initial 2026 bracketology with Maryland drawing a ten-seed vs. UNC, one of four teams sitting just outside the projected play-in game.

Maryland is coming off a 27-9 season in 2024-25 after reaching the Sweet Sixteen for the first time since 2016. Maryland also finished second in the Big Ten in 2024-25 as Williams now looks to begin his quest in becoming one of three head coaches to win 100 games at four different schools.

For fans interested in 2025-26 season tickets, interest forms are now available on umterps.com/MBBInterest, and an Athletics Representative will reach out to provide more information for the upcoming season at XFINITY Center.
