Another game has reportedly been set in the first season for head coach Kevin Willard.
Maryland will host Western Carolina at the Xfinity Center on November 10 as the schedule for the 2022-23 season begins to take form. The news came in the same week that Maryland will face Tennessee on December 11 at the Barclays Center, giving the Terps a marquee opponent during non-conference play. Maryland is awaiting word on who they will face in the ACC/Big Ten challenge which will likely give them another opponent to boost their 2023 NCAA Tournament resume, while Maryland was already set to face St. Louis in the Hall of Fame Tip-Off with Miami-Providence facing off in the second matchup.
Maryland is 2-0 all-time against Western Carolina with the last matchup during the 2005-06 season. Then 21st-ranked Maryland ran away with a 30-point win over the Catamounts after Travis Garrison led the way with 25 points while Ekene Ibekwe and DJ Strawberry finished in double-figures.
Meanwhile, Maryland saw both portal additions in the backcourt recently withdraw from the 2022 NBA Draft as Jahmir Young and Donald Carey secure a veteran presence in the starting rotation from Willard.
