Alabama ATH After Official: "They Want Me Bad"

Fairfield (AL) athlete Ja’Kobi Albert made his way to College Park for his first official visit as the 6-foot, 175-pound prospect admitted it went “actually better than expected, honestly.”

“My host, coach Locksley, all the other coaches were really welcoming and they really seem genuine about getting me there,” Albert told Inside the Black & Gold. Head coach Mike Locksley spent ample time with Albert as the Alabama product felt the love throughout the weekend. “He was just really consistent when I was there. He was asking me questions, how life is, how I’m doing, asking what I thought.” His campus tours made sure to stop through the new Jones-Hill House, which Albert admitted stuck out.

“I really liked it. The facility was just top of the line, it’s gotta be one of the best I’ve ever seen.”

The Terps view Albert as a safety though he admitted the Terps brought up the idea of him playing on the offensive side of the ball. “They’re recruiting me as an athlete and coach Locksley, he told me the offense that he runs, he said I can make some explosive plays out of that. He told me if I ever want to change that I will be able to do that as well.”

Senior wide receiver Brian Cobbs hosted Albert as the two connected nearly instantly. “He’s like a brother, that’s my boy. Just the short time we had together, we really bonded.” The Terps were the first school to offer after co-defensive coordinator Brian Williams uncovered the electric athlete, giving Albert a lengthy opportunity to acclimate himself to the program. He’s gotten a chance to learn through Williams and after this weekend, he has a clear picture of what the Terps have to offer.

“Everything I needed to know I either asked or they touched upon it on a tour, so I have no questions. I know everything I need.” What was his biggest takeaway from his 48 hours on campus?

“They want me bad.”

Albert has official visits set to both Auburn and Michigan this month and added he plans to unofficially visit Kentucky, though he has no timetable for a decision.

Albert is rated a three-star prospect and an 88 overall by 247Sports, sitting as the 22nd-best prospect in Alabama.
