Head coach Mike Locksley and his staff are putting the pieces together on a top-25 class in the 2025 cycle, but that hasn’t stopped his staff from getting a head start on the 2026 class as ’26 St. Frances (MD) defensive back Khmari Bing announced his pledge on Monday afternoon.
Bing, a 6-foot-0, 190-pound defensive back, committed to Maryland over Tennessee and Miami (FL) while drawing offers from Auburn, Michigan, Virginia Tech, Florida and Penn State among others heading into his junior season. Even with more schools showing interest heading into his junior year, there’s a clear reason why Maryland beat out the field, though.
“I want to stay home,” Bing told IBG. “It’s always been the same — I’ve always wanted to stay home.”
Bing began his high school career at Good Counsel before transferring to St. Frances ahead of his sophomore season, while Maryland became the third school and second Power Four program to jump into the picture under former assistant Henry Baker. While the Terps’ resurgence at the Baltimore powerhouse has been fueled by the offseason hire of Aazaar Abdul-Rahim, Bing’s interest in staying local at the next level has been an angle he’s held in high regard since his recruitment began.
Bing gave his pledge to assistant Aazaar Abdul-Rahim on Friday afternoon.
“Coach Aazaar, he watched my film and was telling me how he loves how I work and wanted me to commit. He’s a great coach. Getting a chance to play for him helped. I really loved Maryland since I was growing up so I’ve been ready to commit ever since I was a youngin’,” Bing added.
St. Frances defensive coordinator Justin Winters credited Bing’s versatility where he’ll start as the Panthers’ nickel cornerback as a junior, while he has the ball skills to play either cornerback or safety. “God gave him a gift to go get the football,” Winters told IBG.
Bing becomes the first commitment in Maryland’s 2026 class as he shifts his attention to a breakout season as a starter in St. Frances’s secondary.
“I want to get picks and be able to put my name out there on the map.”
Khmari Bing is not yet rated by On3.
