2025 WR Giayhni Kontosis eyeing summer visits to trio of schools

With only three seniors on Rock Creek’s roster, the returning playmakers in the 2025 class step into veteran roles this fall heading into year two of the renewed program. That includes Giyahni Kontosis, a 6-foot, 185-pound wideout who turned heads at Tuesday’s practice with coaches from Virginia, Syracuse, UConn and South Carolina in attendance. “Since last year since I played varsity, I’ve got to step up and be a leader since we’ve got a lot of young guys, young team. It feels great stepping up for that.” The Orange became the latest school to offer the expected local three-star, joining Oregon, Minnesota, Pitt, West Virginia, Virginia Tech and Georgia Tech among others but the hometown Terps were the fourth school to jump into the mix. After offensive coordinator Josh Gattis made his way to Upper Marlboro to check on Kontosis and the rest of the emerging 2025 and 2026 talent, Kontosis is likely returning to College Park next month for camp. “I’m definitely trying to get to Maryland again, Maryland is home so I’ve got to make sure I get up there,” he added. “Coach Locks came at the beginning of the year, me and coach Locks had a great conversation. Me and coach Gunter are starting to build our relationship more. He wanted me to come down to one of the camps so I’ll probably go up.” Two more schools are in the mix to host him for eventual visits this summer. “I’m trying to go to Tennessee. I just got an offer from Oregon so I’m trying to check them out.” Oregon has made themselves a formidable presence within the DMV this cycle with offensive coordinator Will Stein making his way into the DMV earlier this month, and they’ve also caught Kontosis’ eye. “I definitely like what they like what they have going on. The west coast, I love their facilities. The coaches have been reaching out after I got the offer, the fanbase is active on Twitter so I want to go out there and see what they’ve got going on.” Kontosis is not yet rated by On3.
