2024 LB Kari Jackson Talks Maryland Offer After Connecting with Pair of Coaches

2024 linebacker Kari Jackson transferred from West Bloomfield (MI) to IMG Academy ahead of his sophomore season, but he’s now back at West Bloomfield where he becomes a major player on defense this fall. The 6-foot-2, 210-pound prospect has no shortage of offers with Duke, Georgia Tech and West Virginia all extending offers but this week marked the first week that Maryland initiated content.

Analyst Gary Wortham Jr. officially joined the program weeks ago but was the first coach to reach out to Jackson, placing a call to the Michigan product during the staff’s weekly recruit roundup. “He just said he’s a down to earth guy, the school has a deep history and it’s a great campus,” Jackson told Inside the Black and Gold. One day later, inside linebacker coach Lance Thompson reached out to formally offer a scholarship. “He says he loves my speed and physicality, how I play the game. I play all four quarters hard.”

While Jackson admitted he isn’t up to speed about the intricacies of the Terps’ program, he knows another Michigan native who is currently on the roster. “Yeah, Jordan Cannon. We didn’t play with each other but we know each other so I know he’s there now.”

Ohio State, Cincinnati and Ole Miss were among the first schools to reach out to Jackson back on September 1. “It’s been exciting. A lot of coaches been able to build relationships so it’s exciting.”

Jackson added that with an offer, he’ll look to make the trip to College Park for a game this fall but he knows three schools he’ll visit in the next few weeks.

“This weekend I’m going to Ohio State, then next weekend I’m going to Michigan State and I know I’m getting to the Penn State-Ohio State game.”
