Young Terps: recruiting picking up steam, two portal departures, first B1G basketball win

Welcome back to the latest episode of Young Terps where we dive into the latest surrounding Maryland revenue sports.

We kick it off with Inside the Bag, diving into a busy weekend in College Park that produced a pair of commitments. The first came from former Bowling Green cornerback Jalen Huskey, who is set to enroll in January and give the Terps a marquee addition and former All-MAC selection at a position of need. Hours later, St. John’s safety Shamar McIntosh announced his commitment as the second safety in Maryland’s 2024 class. With just over one week until signing day, we dive into all the names to know down the stretch, both coming out of the weekend and ahead to the final visit weekend prior to national signing day.

We switch over to roster news after fans saw a pair of names hit the portal, first with linebacker Riyad Wilmot announcing his intention then second-year running back Ramon Brown.

We wrap up the show with basketball’s first conference win, but that doesn’t mean it came easy. Maryland needed extra time against Penn State last week before coming away with an 81-75 win in overtime, fueled by 52 combined points from Jahmir Young and Julian Reese. Did the win move the needle? And with Alcorn State set to travel to College Park on Tuesday, is there anything that the Terps can show to instill any more confidence? We take a look ahead at what looks like two must-win games in UCLA and Purdue.
