Young Terps: Basketball skates by, football picks up seventh win to close ’23 season

Welcome back to the Young Terps weekend recap show as we dive into a busy weekend for Maryland football and basketball.

Head coach Kevin Willard watched his team pick up their second consecutive win to move back to .500 overall in a 68-55 win against South Alabama. It was far from pretty, though, as just four players scored and the Terps rode a big second-half run to open up the game. Will the Terps ever find their shooting touch? We dive into what stuck out, both good and bad.

Plus, Maryland football left little doubt against Rutgers as they jumped out to a 21-3 lead before coming away with a 42-24 win. Taulia Tagovailoa became the Big Ten’s all-time leading passer, Jeshaun Jones eclipsed 2,000 career receiving yards while Tai Felton recorded a new career-high. The Terps weren’t able to play a complete game, but they came close to it as we recap Maryland’s third road win of the season.

We close out the show looking ahead to bowl projections with one bowl game coming into focus and a handful of marquee opponents shaping up as potential late December matchups. We dive into everything you need to know heading into the week, plus a portal lineman to keep tabs on.
