Pennsylvania Lineman Impressed with Facilities, Effort During Trip to Maryland

Malvern Prep (PA) already has one former player suiting up for Maryland with freshman center Coltin Deery making his first three career starts this season. For this weekend’s game versus Ohio State, Maryland had one of Deery’s former teammates in attendance with 2024 offensive guard Logan Demchyk in attendance.

The 6-foot-three, 305-pound lineman was already familiar with the Terps as running backs coach Elijah Brooks is leading his recruitment, but the gameday atmosphere stuck out. “It was a great game. It was great seeing my boy Coltin [Deery]. It was my first time as a recruit. I went down last year with Colt and then for a camp this summer but first time down for this,” he told Inside the Black and Gold. “I was taking it all in. There was definitely a lot of fans and it was fun, but every now and then, I’d watch the offensive line and see how they’re doing things. They looked great. They battled and it was a super close game, they looked really impressive.”

The staff offered the Malvern Prep trench star back in June following his camp performance, making Saturday his first visit to Maryland in five months. Demchyk made it to campus roughly an hour before kickoff where he was able to get an in-depth tour of the facilities. “They were beautiful. I saw a little bit before but that was my first time getting an in-depth tour, getting to see the meeting rooms and the practice field. It was awesome.”

While the Terps fell 43-30, Maryland battled against second-ranked Ohio State and Demchyk was one of many who took notice of that. Combine it with his experience as a visitor and he left with a good impression of the program?

“Is it bad if I say everything? Everything stuck out. Everyone was super welcoming, the guys were cool. It was great to see Cole. And I know from past experiences and talking with the staff, they’re all great coaches.”

Demchyk is not yet rated by On3.
