OT Trent Mitchell gets in-depth look at Maryland with decision looming

Ashbrook (NC) offensive lineman Trent Mitchell has already taken official visits to East Carolina and NC State, while this weekend marked the second visit to Maryland for the 6-foot-4, 305-pound tackle as he inches closer to a decision.

“It was great, great to be back on campus because when I was up there the first time I didn’t really see everything,” Mitchell told IBG. “Everything was cool. Great experience, great people.”

Senior center Aric Harris hosted Mitchell during the weekend where he was able to get the necessary feedback from the players. “I had asked a few questions about it because he had took the juco route, so I asked him about enrolling and the transition and the coaches and basically how they roll.”

Mitchell also got a chance to sit down with offensive line coach Brian Braswell as the tackle target watched film of last year’s offensive line, a unit which Mitchell noted produced multiple draft picks back in April.

Mitchell confirmed that he’s focused on a final three of East Carolina, NC State and Maryland with a commitment not far off. “I need probably another week or two to think, do a little bit more research. That’ll probably be it for visits for now unless I do something in the fall.”

Mitchell explains how he’ll separate his top suitors.

“The history, what type of offense, how many people they put in the draft, graduation rate.”

Thompson is not yet rated by On3, but is a three-star prospect and an 84 overall by 247Sports.
