North Carolina OL sets return visit to Maryland

Ashbrook (NC) offensive tackle Trent Mitchell will wrap up his third and final official visit of the month as he, his dad and uncle are set to make their way to Maryland this upcoming weekend.

The 6-foot-6 lineman has already made his way to both East Carolina and NC State with both regional schools prioritizing him through the spring, but Maryland has remained in the mix as this weekend marks his return visit.

“I came up April 22 for practice. I got a chance to watch practice and the [offensive] line, watching coach Bras work with his guys,” Mitchell told IBG. “I just want to see around campus more. Where my classes would be, like where freshmen live and stay when they get there, what the vibe is like on the team.”

Offensive line coach Brian Braswell has made himself a familiar face in the pursuit, but it’s been receiver coach Gunter Brewer leading the way as the area coach and primary recruiter. “He’s been pretty great man. Great guy, great recruiter. I think he said he has family from the Charlotte area so he’s very familiar with my area, so I definitely enjoy that about him.”

Mitchell added he’s still receptive to the idea of keeping his recruitment slightly open heading into the fall with additional official visit opportunities available, but he’ll close in on a decision next month.

“I’ll probably commit this summer.”

Mitchell is not yet rated by On3, but is rated a three-star and an 86 overall by 247Sports.
