Men’s Basketball Bracketology Heading into Selection Sunday

With the Big Ten tournament over, the Terps will have to sit and wait on selection sunday to see where they will be in this years NCAA tournament. The Terps went 1-1 in the Big Ten tournament after beating Minnesota 70-54, but losing a hard fought 70-60 game to Indiana.

After the loss to Indiana, the Terps sit at a projected nine seed in the south region setting them up for a first round matchup with Florida Atlantic. That nine seed is not far off from the Terps projection on Bracketmatrix.com which has them at a 8.29 average projection across all networks. ESPN projects a second round matchup with Alabama if the Terps were to beat FAU in the first round. That would set up a rematch of the round of 32 game from 2021.

CBS Sports also has the Terps matched up with FAU in the first round but this time with the Terps as an eight seed. They also have a possible matchup with Alabama in the second round as well. But if Alabama was to become just the second one seed to lose in the first round, the Terps would have a matchup with Howard from DC, who won the MEAC championship.

With the Terps floating around the eight and nine seeds across most networks, the Terps are ranked 31st in the NET rankings and 21st in the KenPom rankings ahead of the selection show. The Terps were able to finish the season without any bad losses going 12-0 in quad three and four games. The Terps are a lock for the tournament thanks to their three quad one wins and a 6-2 record in quad two games.

The men’s selection show will be airing on CBS at 6pm EST where the Terps will be watching to find out where there will be headed for this years NCAA tournament.
