Maryland the latest school to enter the mix for fast-rising lineman

Maryland has made the trenches a focus in the 2024 cycle with Loyola Blakefield (MD) offensive lineman Trevor Szymanski the latest to join the fold earlier this month, giving offensive line coach Brian Braswell potentially nine high school linemen to work with next season. That didn’t stop the staff from extending an offer to a new high school target on Monday night with Maryland the latest school to offer Aidan Bryant.

After making the transition from the hardwood to the gridiron, Bryant, a 6-foot-6, 305-pound lineman, is in the midst of his second season and first full season of football. The raw potential, combined with an 82-inch wingspan and 10.5-inch hands, has put him squarely on the radar of college coaches.

“I have a lot of potential. I haven’t even reached my ceiling yet,” Bryant told IBG. “A lot of coaches have been recruiting me recently, especially moving down to Mississippi. Coaches just see my potential so they’re hopping on it now.” With offers from Central Michigan, Ball State, Northern Illinois and Jackson State among others, Bryant made the offseason transfer from Westfield (IN) to Greenville Christian (MS) before a Sept. 9 offer from Ohio State led his stock to soar.

Louisville, Georgia Tech, Alabama and Georgia have been in frequent contact with Black since then with Purdue, Michigan State and Penn State the newest schools to show interest, but Monday’s call from Maryland marked the beginning of their pursuit.

“I’m originally from Indiana in the Midwest so Maryland really isn’t that far from home. it’s always a choice,” he added. The Terps aren’t wasting any time to try and chip away at the relationship.

“I’m going to Facetime with the staff on Tuesday just to get a tour of the facilities. I’ll definitely get up there soon.”

Bryant took visits to Ole Miss, Vanderbilt and Memphis heading into the season and is coming off an unofficial visit to Alabama where he got a chance to watch the Tide take down Arkansas in a closer-than-expected contest.

“It was just my first time talking to coach [Nick] Saban just getting to know him, the offensive line coach. they’ve been showing a lot of interest in me so I’ll definitely be back.”

Bryant is not yet rated by On3.
