Maryland offensive lineman Keon Kindred to enter transfer portal

With the transfer portal set to open on Saturday, Maryland saw one underclassman hit the transfer portal.

Offensive lineman Keon Kindred has announced he transfer after one season with the program.

”First and foremost I want to thank the coaches, staff and everyone that supported me at the University of Maryland. After talking with my family, mentor, I’ve decided I will be entering my name into the transfer portal with four years of eligibility left. I appreciate every one of you & it has been playing with you all. You guys are my brothers for life,” Kindred wrote on Twitter.

Maryland signed Kindred and offensive tackle Ja’Kavion Nonar out of Glades Central (FL) in the 2022 class to bolster the offensive line depth, but Kindred leaves the program without playing a snap for the Terrapins.

Kindred also becomes the second offensive lineman to transfer from Maryland this offseason, joining former starting guard Mason Lunsford who will head to LSU this season. Maryland, meanwhile, is leaning on a pair of transfer additions with Gottlieb Ayedze and Corey Bullock stepping into the starting lineup while veterans like DJ Glaze, Amelio Moran and Kyle Long return. Maryland is also in the midst of a camp battle at center between second-year lineman Coltin Deery and former JuCo lineman Aric Harris.

As a former three-star prospect out of high school, Kindred was named a 2020 Sun Sentinel Second Team All-County while also playing basketball.
