Maryland Lands Former LSU OT Marcus Dumervil

Maryland has landed a second transfer portal commitment on the offensive side of the ball.

Former LSU offensive tackle Marcus Dumervil has announced his transfer, giving the room a young talent and added depth at offensive tackle. The former four-star prospect entered the transfer portal last week and after initial plans to officially visit Memphis, Dumervil cut the trip short in favor of a 24-hour official visit to College Park. Dumervil arrived on Saturday evening with his dad and gave his verbal to head coach Mike Locksley on Monday morning.

After signing with the Tigers in the 2020 class, Dumervil played sparingly as a freshman before seeing time in ten games in 2021 and five games this past season.

Dumervil helps stockpile talent to a room that will be without both of its starting tackles next season with Jaelyn Duncan and Spencer Anderson departing. He also becomes the sixth portal commitment and joins FIU receiver Tyrese Chambers, Tennessee DL Jordan Phillips, Saint Francis DE Donnell Brown, Miami safety Avantae Williams and Cincinnati CB Ja’Quan Sheppard. Maryland could still add another portal target in the coming days.

Dumervil has three years left to play two. He was slated to redshirt this season to preserve his redshirt, but played in the SEC championship game against Georgia earlier this month for his fifth appearance in 2022.
