Maryland Football Lands First 2024 Commitment

2024 Fursty Razorbacks linebacker Justin Okoronkwo has announced his commitment to Maryland, giving the staff its first verbal of the 2024 cycle.

The 6-foot-3, 205-pound linebacker picked up an offer two weeks ago after making the trip in for the Ohio State game. Okoronkwo hails from PPI Recruits, the same international recruiting organization that produced Liridon Mujezinovic who became a commitment last fall. Michigan and Penn State also extended offers while the Nittany Lions hosted him days after Okoronkwo checked out College Park. The athletic linebacker hit the camp circuit this summer and impressed in front of the Ohio State staff.

“I think he was the best linebacker that I’ve seen out here,” Collier said. “I’ve actually been at a lot of big-time camps and he was the best linebacker I’ve seen this summer. He’s 6-2.5, ran a 4.56. Dominated the one-on-ones vs. very top linebackers. I thought his position drills was very good, and I think he’s an Ohio State, Georgia, Alabama type of talent.”

Okoronkwo projects as an outside linebacker at the next level and gives the Terps a pledge at a needed position after seeing its main contributors exhaust eligibility following the 2022 season and longterm answers hitting the transfer portal ahead of the December 5 window.

Okoronkwo is not yet rated by On3.
