Maryland projected to face SEC foes in week five bowl projections

One month into the season, Maryland has taken care of business and now sits two games away from bowl eligibility heading into week five. If you’re banking on the early betting odds, Maryland is a healthy favorite to pick up its fifth win this weekend as a 14-point favorite against Indiana. Maryland was already cemented in early season bowl projections as Tampa and Nashville appear to be early favorites with a trio of SEC schools routine opponents. We take a look at Maryland football’s latest round of bowl projections heading into the week:

Maryland drew matchups against both Alabama and Missouri in the week four projections, with Ole Miss replacing Tennesseee in both ESPN projections following the Rebels’ 24-10 loss to the Crimson Tide. Former Maryland assistant Wes Neighbors joined the Rebels this offseason, while the Terps flipped former four-star Neeo Avery from Ole Miss to spark a brief Twitter exchange between coaches.

Texas A&M and Maryland haven’t squared off since 1958, sparking a potentially intriguing matchup with former Maryland head coach DJ Durkin now the Aggies’ defensive coordinator.

Of course, Maryland’s bowl projections could see drastic changes between now and the regular season end with the Terps preparing for their week five matchup against Indiana. Maryland will look to move to 5-0 for the first time since 2001 as they return home for their fourth home game in five weeks with less than 9,000 tickets available for Saturday.

“We’re back in The Shell next week against Indiana. I hope our fans show up for these kids,” head coach Mike Locksley said following Saturday’s win. “They’ve earned the right to have you guys there to support them. And our student section has done their part. Now everybody’s got a part to do in there. I know we’re excited with the opportunity to go 5-0 at home in The Shell and the players are excited about that as well.”
