Maryland among top schools for ’25 LB Parker Meese after second visit

This weekend marked the second visit to Maryland for IMG Academy (FL) Parker Meese as the 6-foot-2, 215-pound inside linebacker got an in-depth look at the program and team. While still at Parish Episcopal (TX), Meese first visited campus prior to his sophomore season to give him his first glimpse at the program, but this weekend’s visit gave him a closer look at Maryland on and off the field.

Linebacker coaches James Thomas and Lance Thompson have both teamed up on the pursuit since Meese added an offer back in July of 2022. “Our connection has been close since I got the offer so I’ve been talking to them for a while now,” Meese told IBG.

This weekend also gave Parker Meese his first chance to meet head coach Mike Locksley, which left an impression.

“I got to see coach Locksley for the first time this weekend, I got to talk to him for a bit, it was a lot of fun. I think that was the bigger part about this visit than the last one, I was able to talk to coach Locks this time,” Meese told IBG. “I’ve been on their board since I came up there my freshman year. Me and him have talked multiple times but this is the first time I’ve talked to him in person. It’s great to hear from him face-to-face and to see how much their staff and everyone up there really cares about me.”

Maryland made it clear their interest is genuine as Meese got a chance to meet the bulk of the staff.

“All the coaches up there, I have a great relationship with. I’m building a great relationship with this team.”

Meese made the trip to College Park with his teammate Alex McPherson, along with family where he got another look at Jones-Hill House. “We did the whole tour and everything as well, so it was a lot of fun.” Shortly after, the four-star prospect watched Maryland take down Indiana as he kept a close eye on the defense.

“I got to watch how their defense plays and how their defense plays and how their inside linebackers move around, how big they are. I get to compare myself to how they looked so they do look like a great fit for me.”

Meese carries a double-digit offer list into his junior year with Arizona, Louisville, Arkansas, Oregon, Texas A&M and Michigan among the long list of schools in the mix. The Texas native kicked off the fall with a trip to Charlotte to watch North Carolina take down South Carolina, 31-17, along with a visit to UNLV. Texas A&M has also hosted Meese four times, but his second visit to Maryland solidifies the Terps among his top schools.

“They’re for sure one of my top schools. My relationships with the coaches, how they run their program, they’re doing amazing. They’re a 5-0 team. They’re looking really good,” Meese added. “My relationship with them is so great. I’ll put them up there on my board. They’re on of my top schools I’d have to say.”

Parker Meese is not yet rated by On3 but is rated a four-star by Rivals.
