Local guard feels like priority after latest visit to Maryland

Bullis (MD) guard Adrien Stevens had goals for himself heading into the summer, but after watching his recruitment skyrocket through the live periods with coaches front and center, the 2025 three-star guard has embraced the beginning of his national profile.

“It’s just been a crazy summer. I had a chance to experience things that a lot of people don’t get to experience, so I’m grateful for that. A lot of learning experiences this summer, which was great overall,” Stevens told IBG. “Going into summer, my goal was two high-major offers, but I blew that out of the water. It was great to see that I can do like that. Setting goals like that and then accomplishing them and more was a great feeling.”

Butler, Marquette, Maryland, Penn State, Providence, Virginia Tech and Xavier have all offered the 6-foot-4 guard while he’s made his way to a pair of schools. The first was an unofficial visit with his parents to Maryland back in June when he picked up the offer, then again in July with his parents before checking out Blacksburg afterward. Stevens made his way back to Maryland on Wednesday morning for a photoshoot where he was able to reconnect with the staff.

“It was more for the photoshoot because the first time I went up there, I was with the fam but the photographer wasn’t available, so I didn’t get to do that. The whole coaching staff was there. They’re always very interactive with me so it was great,” Stevens added.

“I definitely feel like I’m a priority for them and they’re a priority for me so it’s good to have that type of reciprocated relationship. It’s definitely special, especially coming from the state school where I’m from. I just feel like they want me. It’s a good fit.”

Along with connecting with the staff as assistant David Cox leads his recruitment, Stevens was also able to reconnect with one of the Terps’ bigs as players make their way back to campus.

“I think they have like five or six players up there this week. Their man focus was lifting and individual workouts. It wasn’t really a visit where I could see everything. I got to talk to Mady [Traore] a little bit, he was up there weightlifting.”

Stevens added that Maryland is among the four schools recruiting him hardest alongside Marquette, Xavier and Virginia Tech. The lone visit set for Stevens is an unofficial visit to Marquette on October 7 where he’s excited to check out the city as they’re the school reaching out the most.

“It’ll be my first time in Milwaukee so I’m excited to experience that,” Stevens added. “I just want to hear what people are saying for themselves. A lot of people say Midwest people are really nice, so I just want to see that for myself. Get to experience Milwaukee, what it’s like to be in a city like that. Marquette is like in the center of Milwaukee so that’ll be a great experience.

Xavier and Pitt are two more schools that could receive visits in the coming months, while Xavier is working to get him on campus in a few weeks.

“I’ll probably do that in October as well or maybe for their season. They were talking about their Midnight Madness, but it might be hard to do that. I’m still trying to work out dates.”

Stevens added his official to Maryland could come “maybe in the spring,” but he’ll be back before then.

“I’ll probably come back for visits in the fall again, though.”

Adrien Stevens is rated a three-star prospect and an 89 overall by On3, sitting as the third-best prospect in Maryland in the 2025 class.
