Indiana forward Jordan Geronimo transferring to Maryland

Maryland has landed another portal addition this offseason as former Indiana forward Jordan Geronimo has announced his commitment following his visit this week.

The 6-foot-6, 220-pound forward joins the program with two years of eligibility remaining after three seasons with the Hoosiers. Geronimo averaged 4.2 points, 2.4 rebounds and 0.9 blocks in 12.4 minutes per game last season.

Jordan Geronimo becomes the second portal addition, joining LMU guard Chance Stephens, as head coach Kevin Willard lands a piece from within the conference. Similar to Stephens, Maryland had longstanding ties to Geronimo with Willard having recruited the former New Jersey four-star during his time at Seton Hall.

Geronimo stepped into the Hoosiers’ rotation last year when veteran forward Race Thompson was sidelined in January, putting together a convincing performance with 12 points and 11 rebounds in an 18-point win against Wisconsin. Five days later, Geronimo followed it up with 13 points, eight rebounds and three blocks.

But after drawing his sixth and final start of the season in mid-February, Geronimo would play a combined 28 minutes for the remainder of the season before eventually becoming the fourth outgoing transfer for Indiana.

Geronimo now gives Maryland a chance to bolster the frontcourt to fill Patrick Emilien’s role off the bench, giving the Terps experienced depth to lean on. Maryland also returns Julian Reese and Donta Scott in the frontcourt while Jahmir Young is back to bolster the guard play.

As the roster currently stands, the addition of Geronimo puts Maryland one over the scholarship limit for the 2023-24 season.
