Four-Star SEC Verbal Visiting Maryland This Weekend

Maryland football captured bowl eligibility in October and the month of November has given the team a chance to secure signature wins. Through the first two games, Maryland has come out on the losing end but they’ll look to improve the efficiency and dial deep into the offensive woes before the third and final ‘big game’ of the 2022 season this weekend. With second-ranked Ohio State headed to Maryland, the staff will look to put together a strong performance with a long list of priority recruits headed to campus. Among those is a familiar name for Maryland fans.

Four-star Tennessee verbal Cam Seldon will visit Maryland this weekend, a source tells Inside the Black and Gold. Seldon, who committed to Tennessee over Maryland and Penn State in July, will also make the trip in with his cousin Denzel Palmer as he remains a preferred walk-on candidate. Seldon was the top receiver target for Maryland this cycle and were able to bring him in for an offseason visit then for a June official visit as wide receiver coach Gunter Brewer leads his recruitment. Maryland looked to have as good of a chance as anyone heading into the home stretch with his coach at one point tabbing Maryland as the perceived favorites, but even after Seldon announced for Tennessee, Maryland has maintained steady contact with the electric receiver out of Northumberland (VA) and Brewer checked in on Seldon while on the road last month.

Sources have said that Seldon remains firm to the Volunteers with Tennessee on the cusp of the college football playoffs in the second year under Josh Heupel, but the possibility of his cousin walking on at Maryland remains true heading into the final stretch of the cycle.

Seldon is rated a four-star prospect and a 91 overall by On3, sitting as the 206th-best prospect in the country and seventh-best athlete.
