Four-star guard set to visit Maryland, schools emerging for official visits

2025 top-100 prospect Acaden Lewis has been a big part of the Quakers’ 11-game win streak with playoffs around the corner with the 6-foot-3, 170-pound point guard leading the way in Tuesday’s 52-44 win vs. St. Andrew’s Episcopal (MD).

“We’re playing really well down the stretch. The playoffs start in a week or so, so just getting ready for that,” Lewis told IBG. “I’m shooting the ball really efficiently right now, keep getting my teammates involved in their spots. I want to rebound a little bit better, I did that at the beginning of the season but I’ve kind of been slacking a little bit. I just want to keep being a better leader, making sure my teammates are ready to play every game and they’re locked in.”

The Baltimore native has also become a consistent target for head coach Kevin Willard as the staff looks to kick off the 2025 class. Assistant Mike Jones has led the way with the four-star guard, who knows why he’s a need in Maryland’s 2025 class.

“They can do certain things with Jahmir [Young] that they can do with me. Jahmir’s been playing really well, with a lot of poise. They basically think I can come in and fill that role as a freshman, play minutes and that’s always a great thing to be compared to an old guard that a coach trusts,” Lewis added.

Lewis also admitted he fits the Terps’ style of play, but adapting to “make sure I can fit any style of play” has been a primary focus through his junior season. “If the team wants to slow it down and run the halfcourt, I think I’ve been getting pretty good at that. And I already like to run, so just being able to slow down and being able to speed up the game, I really think I can fit in anywhere.”

Acaden Lewis is coming off an unofficial visit to Virginia for their win vs NC State with plans to return to College Park. Lewis, who visited back in December for the Penn State game, tells IBG he will be back in College Park next weekend for the Illinois game.

“I told most schools that I won’t do any visits besides the local schools during the season. I’m actually getting ready to set up visits in this next week so I’ll be talking to coaches.”

Three schools are currently in the mix for official visits.

“I’m setting up Georgetown and [Virginia] right now, in talks with Georgia about getting that one set up. Then if I have time, definitely get to a few more,” Lewis added.

“I’ve been talking to them a lot so I definitely want to get on campus. I’ve been to Georgetown and Virginia a handful of times now so I think it’s about time to take an official. And Georgia has been recruiting me since they offered in December, so I just want to get out there.”

Acaden Lewis is rated a four-star prospect and a 92 overall by On3, sitting as the third-best prospect in DC and 96th-best in the country.
