Florida OT Ben Beymer locks in official visit to Maryland

Lakeland (FL) three-star offensive tackle Ben Beymer picked up an offer from Maryland back in January after assistant Kevin Sumlin trekked through his school. Maryland has one interior offensive lineman in the fold in Kahlil Stewart, but with a need to find long tackles after loading up along the offensive line through the 2024 class, Beymer enters the spring approaching 6-foot-8, 285-pounds with a goal to add another ten pounds prior to his senior season.

And after staying consistent through the spring, Maryland is the first school to lock in an official visit with the Florida tackle.

“I have my official visit scheduled for the weekend of June 7,” Beymer told IBG.

New offensive line assistant Damian Wroblewski has chipped in with Sumlin on recruiting efforts, giving Beymer a chance to build a personal relationship with the coaches. “I’ve been talking to the assistant [offensive] line coach and coach [Kevin] Sumlin a lot. It’s kind of an even split between them,” he added. After noting the Terps have been in near-daily contact, the consistent interest is the main driver for Beymer to return the favor to visit College Park.

“Just the relationships I have with the coaches. They really want me up there so I’m pursuing it heavy. We’ve been talking about OVs and getting up there soon because I really want to get up there soon and check it out.”

Beymer is coming off a visit to Texas A&M for their spring game this past Saturday, while UCF and Duke also hosted the in-state target earlier this month. Syracuse, UAB and USF are among the other schools to jump into the mix into the spring and while Beymer doesn’t have plans to venture out to more schools yet, Maryland’s main competition is becoming clear.

“Georgia Tech, FAU have been on me heavy too. I think I’m going to schedule an official to Georgia Tech soon but we’re just trying to work out the dates.”

With a plan to make his commitment after his official visits, what’s Beymer’s most important factor to help separate his finalists?

“The relationships with the coaches are really important. I’m going to go somewhere that really wants me. I want to go to a program where I feel that and feel at home.”

Ben Beymer is rated a three-star prospect and an 84 overall by On3, sitting as the 139^th-best prospect in Florida.
