Committed Teammates Visiting Maryland This Weekend

Maryland will look to rebound with Ohio State coming to SECU Stadium this weekend. Still, this upcoming weekend could develop into arguably the most talented group of gameday visitors to-date in the Locksley era and now, the staff will get two new faces on campus. A pair of teammates out of North Carolina will head to Maryland this weekend with five-star prospect Noah Rogers along with three-star safety Tamarcus Cooley making their first trip to campus.

The two teammates have emerged as recent targets for the staff. Rogers, top-20 prospect and Ohio State wide receiver verbal, committed to the Buckeyes back in late June but has kept his recruitment open through the fall. NC State and North Carolina are two schools in hot pursuit, but the Terps’ pitch for immediate playing time for the impact receiver along with still playing in the Big Ten is what gives confidence in Maryland’s chances. It remains to be seen whether Rogers will eventually take an official visit to Maryland, but this weekend is a start as the staff has an opportunity to impress.

His teammate, Tamarus Cooley, announced for the Wolfpack back on July 4 but is a safety target for Maryland. A source says that Maryland remains high on Coffeyville safety Bishop Fitzgerald, but they’ll take both safeties with Cooley fitting the mold for an additional high school safety. The 6-foot, 195-pound hasn’t been as active with other schools in his recruitment but has maintained recent contact with the Terps.

Rogers is rated a five-star prospect by On3, the 17th-best player nationally and the third-best receiver in the country. Cooley is rated a three-star prospect and an 86 overall by On3, sitting as the 33rd-best prospect in North Carolina.
