’26 top ten prospect Zion Elee talks Saturday’s visit to Maryland

After getting up to Penn State earlier in the month, Joppatowne (MD) four-star edge Zion Elee made his way to College Park to take in Saturday’s practice, but it was the tour of Jones-Hill House that caught his eye.

“Really their football facilities. They’re huge, super nice, really new and advanced,” Elee told IBG about the highlight from Saturday’s visit.

Maryland was the first Power Five offer for Elee after co-defensive coordinator Aazaar Abdul-Rahim spearheaded initial efforts, but Elee has watched his stock soar since then. The 6-foot-5, 235-pound edge prospect has watched Minnesota, Penn State, South Carolina, Tennessee, Wisconsin, Virginia Tech, Rutgers and Minnesota jump into the picture along with recently being named a top ten prospect in the 2026 class by On3. While he didn’t get to watch practice itself, Saturday’s visit gave the early priority target a chance to connect with his position coach afterward.

“I got a tour of all the facilities and I got a conversation with [my] position coach and head coach. Me and coach [Brian] Williams had a great conversation about the defenses they run and my film. He said I’m really twitchy and fast off the edge. Coach Locks had a quick conversation about my potential.”

While he works to finalize dates, Elee will continue his busy spring into April as he works on setting up trios to Ohio State, Rutgers and Syracuse.

Zion Elee is rated a four-star and a 95 overall by On3, checking in as the seventh-best prospect in the nation and top edge prospect. Elee posted 24 TFLs, 13 sacks and 64 total tackles as a sophomore.
